Scientist
AureoGen Biosciences, a biotech company with a focus on generating novel antibiotics through genetic engineering of natural products producing organisms, is seeking a new member to the company’s Non-Ribosomal Peptide Synthetase (NRPS) Genetic Engineering Team. Applicants should have a MS or Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Genetics, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, or similar discipline, and preferentially a background in fungal biology. Applicants must have an immigration status that allows for living and working in the United States. Hands-on laboratory experience with molecular biology techniques, such as DNA isolation, cloning, transformation, selection schemes, gene mapping, DNA electrophoresis, Southern blotting and PCR amplification procedures, is essential. Experience with transformation of fungi and familiarity with techniques used to obtain genetically homogenous fungal clones, is preferred. Good sterile technique and the ability to generate, track, and store fungal clones is important, as is organizational skills and careful record keeping and data maintenance. AureoGen offers a competitive salary (based on qualifications, skills, and experience) and a comprehensive benefit package that (for eligible employees) includes a 401k plan.

Molecular Biology Assistant
This position is for a person trained in molecular biology techniques who will become a member of the Fungal Non- Ribosomal Peptide Synthetase (NRPS) Genetic Engineering Team. Applicants should have a BS degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or Genetics and hands on laboratory experience with molecular biology techniques and procedures. Applicants must have an immigration status that allows for living and working in the United States. Techniques likely to be used by the individual include: DNA isolation, DNA cloning, bacterial and fungal transformation and selection schemes, gene mapping, DNA electrophoresis, DNA blotting and hybridization, PCR amplification procedures, and computer-aided DNA analyses packages (DNAStar, Sequencher, GCG, Vector NTI, and/or Clone Manager). The individual should also have good sterile technique and basic organizational skills required to obtain, track, and store important clones and record data clearly in a laboratory notebook. Because the individual will be expected to carry out genetic engineering techniques on fungal species, having prior experience working with fungi is considered a strong plus. Additional experiences with instrumentation such as HPLC and protein analysis techniques would also be considered a plus.
